Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Mine Planner/Geologist will provide geologic and land management support within various oil and gas basins of the U.S. Primary responsibilities include geologic investigations, required permitting for mine operations, developing and maintaining relationships with landowners, and mine schedule and waste disposal planning. This person will have the opportunity to work in a remote capacity, requiring approximately 50% travel.

COMPENSATION: $135,000: bonus: annual profit sharing/bonus target of 50%: 401k: medical insurance (company pays a majority of premiums: relocation and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish, develop and implement strategies to maintain adequate resources for continued mine operations at company production sites.
  • Establish, manage and develop exploration targets for greenfield sites meeting potential customer requirements.
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with landowners in support of mine lease opportunities.
  • Schedule and manage subsurface investigation and exploratory drilling programs to complete resource estimates.
  • Negotiate and execute lease agreements with landowners to secure adequate resources in support of mine operations.
  • Manage and monitor active agreements to ensure compliance with the terms of the mine leases.
  • Interact with operations management and business leaders to ensure that projects align with the current and future needs of the company.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget while adhering to common mine industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures safety, environmental compliance, confidentiality, and proper codes of conduct.
  • Comply with all company and MSHA safety standards and procedures.
  • Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. in Geology, Mine Engineering, or similar (M.S. or P.G. preferred).
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in managing mining-related geologic projects and support for mining companies.
  • Must be able to travel at least 50%; travel requirement will reduce significantly if willing to relocate to West Texas region.
  • Working knowledge of core drilling rigs and exploration techniques used in mining and geologic assessments.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal permitting laws and regulations as they relate to mining operations.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with mapping and geologic modeling software for assessment and illustration of site-specific geologic characterization, resource estimation, and mine planning to operations management and staff.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising contractors and technical consultants.
  • Demonstrated success in the development of greenfield mining projects.
  • Ability to prepare and review geologic reports and related plans.
  • Ability to speak and write professionally.
