About AICTE

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was set up in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body to conduct a survey on the facilities available for technical education and to promote development in the country in a coordinated and integrated manner. And to ensure the same, as stipulated in the National Policy of Education (1986), AICTE was vested with:

• Statutory authority for planning, formulation, and maintenance of norms & standards.
• Quality assurance through accreditation.
• Funding in priority areas, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Maintaining parity of certification & awards.
• The management of technical education in the country.

The Government of India (the Ministry of Human Resource Development) also constituted a National Working Group to look into the role of AICTE in the context of proliferation of technical institutions, maintenance of standards, and other related matters. The Working Group recommended that AICTE be vested with the necessary statutory authority for making it more effective, which would consequently require restructuring and strengthening with the necessary infrastructure and operating mechanisms.

The AICTE Act was constituted to provide for the establishment of an All-India Council for Technical Education with a view to proper planning and coordinated development of a technical education system throughout the country, the promotion of qualitative improvements of such education in relation to planned quantitative growth, and regulation & proper maintenance of norms and standards in the technical education system and for the matters connected therewith.

About AICTE IDEA Lab

AICTE IDEA (Idea Development, Evaluation & Application) Lab, Acropolis aims to encourage students for application of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) fundamentals towards enhanced hands-on experience, learning by doing and even product visualization. As a common facility embedded in the institution, the IDEA Lab will make engineering graduates and the end users more imaginative and creative, besides getting basic training in the 21^st century skills like – critical thinking, problem solving, design thinking, collaboration, communication, lifelong learning etc. IDEA Lab can facilitate the students and faculty to “Engage, Explore, Experience, Express and Excel” as desired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister in the wake of release of National Education Policy 2020.

The AICTE has launched this scheme with a huge collaborative funding of INR 1 Cr. across India for the training and development of students and society through hands-on learning on the latest technologies. Acropolis is among top 49 institutes of the country to establish an IDEA Lab. This lab has an industry 4.0 standard hi-tech lab facility available 24x7 on campus, encouraging more students, faculty, alumni, entrepreneurs, industry personal and society people to take on creative work and, in the process, receive trainings and internships and other skills that traditional labs do not focus on, in the domains of 3D Printing and Scanning, Smart Manufacturing, Advanced Electronics Circuit Designing, Internet of Things, E-Vehicle, Robotics, Drone, Bio-manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and other buzzing cutting edge technologies. AICTE IDEA Lab caters to the various research needs of industries and would provide a great opportunity for industries and academia to use the advanced facilities. The major objectives of AICTE IDEA Lab are:

4. To conduct up-skilling training programs for industry professionals to make them technically competent to meet global industry requirements.
5. To organize faculty development programs, boot camps, skilling programs, workshops, consultancy work, and internships.
