The Department of Engineering Chemistry was founded in 2005 at the Acropolis Institute of Technology & Research in Indore with the goal of delivering high-quality instruction in the traditional scientific fields and developing into a hub for teaching and research with a view to gaining prominence on India's academic landscape.

The soul of all branches is chemistry. One cannot think outside the box if they are unaware of it. The chemistry department has traditionally taken the lead in promoting the use of chemistry in the various engineering disciplines. The way that the students are taught enables them to develop analytic thinking skills and focus their thoughts in a certain direction.

Chemistry is the study of chemicals, and everything that has been made by engineers is made of chemicals. Things fail when chemicals interact in undesirable ways; falling bridges, malfunctioning machinery, explosions in refineries, radiation leakage in nuclear plants, etc. occur when chemistry knowledge is not properly applied.

Since chemistry is the subject that deals with creating new substances from various basic materials, it is inextricably linked to civil and mechanical engineering. Computers employ chemistry in many different ways. For instance, when building and creating the computer's hardware, we use a variety of materials, including silicon, zinc, aluminium, and copper.

Chemistry plays a significant role in the production and packaging of electronics, and it may one day support the development of molecular electronics, which will lead to faster and less expensive electronics. Thus, students who become familiar with the fundamentals of chemistry will be better equipped to come up with new projects that reflect conceptual thinking. Such information has always illuminated their way to success.

Welcome to the Department of Engg.Chemistry at Acropolis!
“Life is a chemical reaction, it only requires balancing!"
The Department of Engineering Chemistry provides instruction in chemistry and environmental studies to meet the needs of students in all engineering disciplines. The department has a large, well-equipped laboratory with good facilities. Five exceptionally talented and qualified faculty members are deeply committed to their work in both teaching and research. The department's strength continues to be curiosity-driven frontier research in the basic sciences that encompasses relevant interdisciplinary fields for sustainable development and works well with the teaching and learning process.
Along with carrying out various administrative duties, staff members constantly strive to increase their knowledge and proficiency in order to achieve even greater excellence. To this end, they organize and attend seminars, conferences, and workshops. The faculty members also devote a lot of time to outreach and community development initiatives that advance social welfare. Since the main goal of a teacher is to promote learning, the department strives to offer the best resources, infrastructure, and learning environments for both students and staff while continuously monitoring curriculum development to keep up with scientific and technological advancements. It aims to provide students with a value-based education while mentoring them to acquire the knowledge and abilities required to succeed in life. In a polite and welcoming atmosphere, our students and professors collaborate to develop new chemical knowledge and prepare the next generation of equity-minded scientific leaders. High safety standards are part of our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community service.

With very best wishes,

Lab Details

The Engg. Chemistry lab is properly furnished with all the necessary equipment and glassware in accordance with the course topic. Testing water for hardness, alkalinity, chloride ions, etc. is a part of the experiments. Lubricants are examined in our chemistry lab for characteristics like their Flash and Fire point, Viscosity Index, and Cloud and Pour point. The chemistry lab is well-equipped with the tools needed for testing lubricants, such as Abel’s apparatus, Pensky Marten’s apparatus, Cleaveland’s apparatus, Redwood viscometers, etc. Penetrometer provides accurate estimates of grease consistency.

Event well thought-out:

The department sponsored the knowledgeable lecture given by an IIT professor- Dr. Suman Mukhopadhyay, Professor at Department of Chemistry IIT Indore. The students’ eagerness in imparting their knowledge to others made the lectures a great success in addition to the IIT Professor’s presentation of their research findings.

The department also holds a variety of competitions, such as debate, to assist students in putting what they learn in class into practice.
