About

Programming abilities are crucial tools that can be applied to and integrated into a variety of disciplines and domains in today's environment of rapid development. Therefore, it is crucial to impart these skills to young minds. The mission of the Coding Club is to foster a culture of coding on campus by engaging all students who have a passion for it. The motto of the club is Develop-Build-Innovate.

Beginnings

The club was founded by a group of students from the department of CSIT who wanted to interact with like-minded peers and explore the world of computer science and information technology. They were motivated by their passion for coding and desire to learn, which has allowed the club to grow and scale to new heights. Being a student body, the coding club team was able to empathize with the problems and hiccups commonly encountered while gaining learning on specific topic. The club team was able to formulate a teaching approach to specific topics in order to aid and accelerate students' learning process. The team assisted faculties in delivery of programming syllabus by extensively preparing and composing programming challenges based on the important topics. These challenges were then put on HackerRank platform for student evaluations. The team then also dissected and curated each problem and also gave review on the student’s attempts.

  • Geek of Geeks Student Chapter

  • Code Chef Club

  • Google Developer Student Club

Outcomes

  • Coding Club helps members gain in-depth knowledge of coding. This helps them immensely during placements and can also bring laurels to the institution through various national and international programming contests

Aim

  • Organize more coding contests to target all interested student
  • Hold workshops on computer science and information technology related topics such as Robotic Process Automation, web development (Html, CSS, Full Stack), Application Development, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Cyber Security, Cloud , Salesforce etc.
  • Participate in open source projects, create websites and applications, and offer technical assistance to students
  • Participate in events like the ACM-ICPC, Google Code Jam, Google Summer of Code, and other online coding challenges

Practices

    • The club conducts a college wide coding competition that focuses on logical, analytical and problem solving skills for all the students who are passionate about coding
    • Workshops and technical sessions on various concepts of computer science and information technology are conducted through the club. The club also organizes sessions by college passed out students and alumni about internship and placement preparation
    • The Club also conducts Peer teaching which is a learning method that helps students solidify their knowledge by teaching others. It also helps to overcome their hesitations and fear, to work together to share their expertise and knowledge to learn a new skill, concept, or process
    • The Club also conducts project exhibitions to showcase the research talents, Innovativeness, creativity of B.Tech students. Prototype projects on recent societal issues with respect to better efficiency and low-cost products have been encouraged to the students. Students are also encouraged to build multidisciplinary projects using various technologies such as IOT, AIML, RPA, Cloud, Salesforce, Mern Stack etc.
    • To inculcate the culture of startups and the innovation ecosystem. Various faculty and student patents have been filed in this process
    • To conduct Internal Hackathons to enable students to showcase their talent and generate out-of-the-box open innovation ideas. A state level Botathon competition was successfully conducted by students of CSIT in collaboration with TCS
    • To conduct Bootcamps on latest Technology such as Drone, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality( ARVR), UI/UX Design etc.
    • To provide assistance in In-House and Outside Internships
    • To involve students in coding club through Induction Program and Team Building Activities
  • To conduct industry led Capsule programs and Credit Course
  • To successfully carry out the IIT Lab assistance program where the students get various stages of experiential learning including conceptualization and experimentation followed by reflection, analysis and interpretation of data.
